The Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CAST) is committed to developing partnerships with educational institutions to offer meaningful learning opportunities for students and staff through participating together in a process of integrating practice skills with the knowledge, value and theory base of the profession.

CAST offers placement opportunities in the following areas:

•    Social Work, BSW/MSW
•    Child & Youth Work,  CYW

CAST accepts student placement applications two times a year - for placement commencing in September and January. The number of placement opportunities per term is limited as it is based on the number of Field Instructors available at our agency.

Application Process

We ask that all student requests for placements be directed to the Practicum Coordinator at your college/university, who will then contact us directly.

The Practicum Coordinator, who coordinates student placements at each college/university, will contact the Student Placement mailbox studentplacement@torontocas.ca to indicate the student(s) selected to be reviewed/interviewed for consideration in the program.

***Please note that due to the large volume of applications, we are able to contact only those candidates who are selected for an interview. Interviews are not a guarantee of a placement offer.

Requirements

•    All students completing their placements with the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto must be able to provide an original Vulnerable Sector Police check that is current within 1 year, prior to the start of their placement.
